The "Chinese Wall" designates the ring-fencing enforced between one part of a financial institution, and another. For instance, between the officers in charge of originating the transactions from issuers, and those in charge of placing the securities issued. Another Chinese Wall stands between the Mergers & Acquisition teams and the rest of the bank.
